The National Moment of Remembrance
Honoring Our Fallen Heroes — Memorial Day at 3:00 PM
Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday of May, is a time for our nation to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.
As part of this tribute, Americans across the country are encouraged to participate in the National Moment of Remembrance by pausing for one minute at 3:00 p.m. local time on Memorial Day. Wherever we may be, this quiet moment allows us to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who fought to protect our freedoms.
Founded to help restore the true meaning of Memorial Day, the National Moment of Remembrance reminds us that freedom is never free. Founder Carmella LaSpada beautifully stated:
“It’s a way we can all help put the memorial back in Memorial Day.”
In December 2000, the United States Congress established the National Moment of Remembrance Act, creating the White House Commission on the National Moment of Remembrance to encourage Americans to honor and remember our fallen heroes through acts of reflection and gratitude.
